Once you find an image, what can you do with it? This question touches less upon the limits of our media delivery technology and more our pedagogical support infrastructure. What would it take to mke digital media enhanced “writing,” and multimedia production work, something within reach of all our students in all our departments? Questions here include access to software and storage, training for tools, and, most importantly, the means to teach students to use media effectively. This is where the digital delivery group ties into VSI’s student-based and curricular initiatives. We are asking what it will take to ensure our students can become effective 21st century knowledge producers. We also ask how we can support our faculty and students in working together across horizontal and vertical boundaries to explore visuality, scientific visualization, and visual culture.
