Sharing
Once you have created or re-presented the image, how can you share what you have done? How do you go about creating a new research collection? This focus area includes the challenges of storage and digital repository development, copyright and fair use considerations, and metadata generation including provenance. It also potentially includes intellectual property considerations when the media is sufficiently transformed to become a new work in itself. Here the team is working on the expansion of the Madison Digital Image Delivery System for purchased and user-generated collections, on enhancing support for web-accessible, content-management tool use on campus, and for a standardized authentication and authorization engine with ad hoc group generation capabilities for access control. We are also looking into the future potential of local Digital Rights Management including Creative Commons attribution to help manage the sharing process within legal and ethical parameters.
