Faculty Recruitment
We are currently developing and supporting a core group of talented and accomplished Visual Studies faculty, as well as augmenting current faculty expertise in Visual Studies through international searches and target of opportunity hires. We are pleased to welcome Katherine Hayles as our first Mellon faculty appointment.
N. Katherine Hayles is a Professor at UCLA specializing in literature; electronic textuality, literary theory and media theory. Her books include How we became Posthuman: Virtual Bodies in Cybernetics (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2005); Writing Machines (MIT Press, 2001), and My mother was a Computer: Digital Subjects and Literary Texts (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2005).
She is currently working on a primer of electronic literature and a study of the narrative and database. She will join the Duke Faculty in the Fall of 2008. Please see more information on her work.
